The power of Lavender to sleep
The essential oil of la Lavender, Lavandula Angustifolia, has chemical components that are effective for relaxation and has proven therapeutic properties and a sedative effect.
Inhalation of lavender essential oil, alone or combined with other oils , is an effective tool against insomnia. It is very powerful, so one or two drops, are an effective dose.
To apply it, you can put a drop of pure lavender oil on a cotton ball and inhale it for about five minutes, or put it on your pillowcase . Change it every day for it to take effect and use it for at least 20 days in a row.
If you don't want to be putting and removing cotton every day, you have a more practical option: the viscoelastic pillow that has the scent incorporated.
Inhalation patches that stick to clothing or lavender nasal strips are also comfortable and effective.
Another option is to use diffusers , which help release essential oil molecules into the air. They are also very effective, although inhalation is less intense than direct inhalation with a cotton ball, sticks or patches.
If you use diffusers, do it intermittently, do not connect them all the time, keep the room ventilated and try not to be too close to the diffuser.
If you don't like the aroma of lavender essential oil, you can use it mixed with other essential oils that also have a sedative effect, such as Ylang - Ylang, Bergamot, or Roman Chamomile.
If you are going to use essential oils you have to take some precautions:
Make sure it's pure.
Preferably, use them intermittently, that is, you put it on for 30-60 minutes, then turn it off for another 30-60, then turn it on again, and so on.
If you use diffusers, it could cause irritation. To avoid this, monitor the amount of essential oil and the ventilation of the room.
If you use it topically, they are usually diluted in carrier oils, however it is recommended that you calculate the dose well and that you test them dermatologically before applying it directly to the skin, for example on the inside of the elbow for 48 hours, in order to to avoid irritative and allergic reactions.
