Light exposure influences circadian regulation. the negative influence of blue light on night sleep.

Exposure to sunlight for about 15 minutes a day can promote  phase adjustment and regulation of the start of melatonin secretion, so it is generally advisable.

On the other hand, the use of screens that emit bright light at night is generally not advised.  

Based on the properties of light exposure, specialists in sleep disorders can use light therapy or phototherapy, with ambient light or with light boxes and with different strategies, depending on the treatment  of a phase advance or delay,  before some specific types of insomnia.
